Team driving gets pitched as a pure speed advantage more hours on the road, faster deliveries. That's true, but it's not the full financial picture.
Running as a team opens access to time-sensitive freight that pays a premium specifically because most single drivers can't legally make the delivery window. That's often a bigger earnings lever than the extra miles alone.
The tradeoff is real too: split pay, higher operating costs, and a second person's preferences to coordinate with. It's not a fit for every carrier or every relationship
Our advice to carriers considering the switch: look at your last twelve months of missed time sensitive loads before deciding. That number tells you more than any general industry advice can.
